St. Patrick’s Day celebrations begin in Boston this weekend and the calendar is jam-packed with events. In my entirely biased opinion, this is one of the world’s gayest holidays. Really. Aside from Pride Week, when else will you see the so many celebrations involving well-dressed guys with high-pitched voices and an obsession with rainbows? I kid. Anyway, while I’m hiding from the Irish mafia, you might want to try your luck with these events…

Welcome back to Weekend Preview, DC-based TNG-readers! This past week has been beautiful in the nation’s capital – I got to break out the short-sleeved shirts and lightweight hoodies (working in a Creative department means I get a lot of leeway in terms of dress code) – and, even though there’s rain in the weekend’s forecast, well, that’s all a part of spring, right? We survived the multiple blizzards, DC residents, and now we’re being rewarded with a new month and a fresh start. March is commonly described as “coming in like a lion and out like a lamb” since the month begins wintry and ends with Spring, but did you know the phrase actually refers to the fact that the constellation Leo, the Lion, is prevalent in the beginning of the month and Aries, the Ram or lamb, rules the skies at the end of the month? There, don’t say I never taught you anything new.
For those looking to unleash their inner March lions, there’s plenty to make you roar and purr this weekend in DC.

The shortest month of the year comes to an end this weekend and while I wish I could say spring is just around the corner, this is Boston, so I’m only cautiously optimistic that we’ll see warmish weather before April. Either way, you don’t want to miss out on the films and other events going on this weekend – especially not the all-out Nerf battle at MIT. I’ll be there – that is, if I can pull myself away from Robot Unicorn Attack for one evening, but that’s another story. Read on…

This weekend is going to be all indie rock all the time thanks to Noise Pop 18 which kicked off on Tuesday. Check out my Noise Pop preview post for a list of performances and art-related events. In between bands, you have the opportunity to talk sex and tech and raise money for boobs awareness. Here are a couple of other things to do to keep you busy this weekend.
