Yeah, I wanted to go to the Tribute to Guillermo del Toro on Friday, too.  Too bad it’s already sold out.  You can console yourself by renting his lesser-known horror masterpiece The Orphanage and watching it with that special someone and/or special bag of Ultimate Butter popcorn.  Alternately, here are a few more ideas for the weekend.

For 46 years, the Chicago International Film Festival has been bringing films from all over the world to Chicago in a celebration of cinematic excellence. This year’s festival runs from October 7 – 21, and once again promises to offer a stellar lineup of over 150 films from 50 countries.

Summer’s coming to a close but that doesn’t mean there are no longer to occupy your days in Chicago.

Memorial day weekend is always a crazy weekend but in Chicago it always means so much more. Between IML, Dance Parties with DC DJ Shea Van Horn and Chicago DJ Erik Roldan, and the 2010 Grabby Awards, there’s no way to not go out find something (or someone) that can show you a good time.

Chicago’s starting to shine like the great city it blossoms into for the summer. May is not only when all the flowers start to sprout and leaves return to trees but the pants become shorts and the sex becomes more promiscuous than ever. Chicago’s full of fun events to get you out and about!
