If you are not already familiar with the name Tarell Alvin McCraney, you will be soon enough, and most certainly, you should be. The Brother/Sister Plays, a trilogy of plays currently being performed at the Steppenwolf Theater in Chicago, is an extraordinary theater-going experience. Really. I’m talking in superlatives again, and, seriously, for good reason.

With Coachella’s Lineup being announced, I’m getting excited for Chicago’s own Lollapalooza and the summertime. In the meantime, Chicago has some fun events till the sun start heating up!

Center on Halsted is pleased to announce that lesbian comic Kate Clinton will be performing her new “The Lady Haha Tour” on Sunday, January 24, 2010 at 6pm in the Hoover-Leppen Theatre at Center on Halsted located at 3656 N. Halsted in Chicago.

This weekend is supposed to give us a small reprieve from the winter with some nice sunny days in the 30’s so take advantage of it with some kick ass events!

The Center’s danceOUT series presents an evening in conversation with The Joffrey Ballet’s “Cinderella” on Thursday, January 14 from 7-9 PM at Center on Halsted’s Hoover-Leppen Theatre, 3656 N. Halsted in Chicago.

The Galleries at Center on Halsted will present artist Emily Rutledge in a show entitled “Urban Narratives” in its third floor gallery and artists Steve Becker and Albert Ellenich in a show titled “Speed of Light” in its second floor gallery space.

Chicago has gotten our first snow fall and personally I love it! I’m basically a Christmas baby (20th!), so I love the snow. Snow ball fights, forts, angels, wrestling, sledding, broom ball and sex. OK! I did all except the last one but maybe one day! Even if you hate snow, there are tons of things to do in Chicago to keep you warm and dry!

The first holiday of the fall is upon us: Thanksgiving. Everyone seems to have mixed feelings about Turkey day. Some friends of mine are excited to travel home to visit family. Others have already made plans to drink away the pain before and after Thanksgiving. Whatever your plans, Chicago has some events to make sure you don’t sleep you weekend away from all that Turkey!
