As we continue our battle against the heat (Michelangelo ice cream pop anyone?), we must not forget that our summer oath to make the most of every waking hour this summer.

The steamy days of summer are upon us. Sans air conditioning, I’ve been hiding out in my basement and subsisting on a steady diet of icy drinks and desserts. It’s not a bad deal: I’d take tank tops and popsicles over blankets and space heaters any day. As if the days aren’t already hot enough, this weekend’s events include the spicy blend of South American indie music, a queer luau, and more Thursday gay parties than ever.

In our post-post modern world (or whatever we’re calling it these days), it’s easy to stay safely nestled inside of our digital walls. But there is life outside your homepage! Boston is positively bursting at the seams with events this summer.

Are you feeling the heat, Boston? While it might make for a sweaty commute, at least it doesn’t require scaling six foot high snow piles while trying to catch the bus (thank you, February). What’s up, Boston? Greetings from one of the few bonafide gay girls on the internet who isn’t actually a straight, married guy with a failed writing career. (You’ll just have to take it from me that I didn’t steal my staff photo from a British woman’s Facebook account.) But enough about the twisted anonymity of the internet. Was Pride everything you dreamed it would be? Yes? No? Well, keep in mind that the end of pride season in the city doesn’t mean the end of queer-friendly local events.

Happy Pride month, everyone! We’re well aware that this month means city-hopping on the Pride party circuit for some and staying local to avoid Gaga’s little monsters for plenty of others.
