About Calvin

calvin@thenewgay.net

Born in Mississippi. Moved to Maricaibo, Venezuela. Moved to Houston. Moved to Chicago. Moved to Los Angeles. Got tired of moving. Bought a house and decided to call LA home. I went to The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (BFA) and Otis College of Art and Design (MFA). My work history includes being a director for three very well respected contemporary Los Angeles art galleries – Christopher Grimes Gallery, Anna Helwing Gallery and Steve Turner Contemporary. I continue to curate independent exhibitions and projects and write about the art that I like. I am also working on a photography portfolio project called A3x10. Oh, and I like to throw dinner parties.

QUEER TERRITORIES at Sea and Space Explorations

Queer Territories, a smart group show curated by Nicholas Grider at Sea and Space Explorations, presents a body of work by gay artists who are exploring the idea of the ‘queer landscape’. Millie Wilson/Bari Ziperstein/Vincent Johnson at Las Cienegas Projects
