New York City: Exhibition: Last Chance to see BOYS OF BUSHWICK

This post was submitted by Troy Chatterton

Event Details: Exhibition: Last Chance to see BOYS OF BUSHWICK - : Saturday, April 30

“BUSHWICK, BROOKLYN-Norte Maar is pleased to present BOYS OF BUSHWICK: an exhibition addressing the male figure as muse.  BOYS OF BUSHWICK features drawings by Richard Haines and includes paintings by Dan Halm, collage by Ellen Letcher, and historic work by Paul Cadmus and Pavel Tchelichew.” – Norte Maar

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see work by Paul Cadmus – famous for his ground breaking work using the male figure in virtually all of his work. Controversy surrounded his work from the beginning. Paul’s 1934 painting “The Fleet’s In,” was pulled from an exhibition at the Concord Gallery in Washington because it outraged Navy Officials for its use of uniformed sailors, prostitutes and a homosexual. Paul had many muses during his long career, but his companion Jon Anderson was his most beloved, lasting 35 years. The last day to see this exhibit is Saturday, April 30th, from 1-6pm.

A thrilling bookend to the Norte Maar show can be seen in the city at the Gagosian Gallery at 522 West 21st Street – which focuses on Pablo Picasso’s work inspired by longtime lover and muse Marie-Therese. Runs from April 14 – June 25. (L’Amour Fou exhibition)

Date: Saturday, April 30th (Last Day!)

Venue: Norte Maar

Address: 83 Wyckoff Avenue, #1B (directions)

Time: 1-6pm
