TNG TV: Queers You Should Know – Gawker Media’s Brian Moylan
Brian Moylan, the dominant gay voice of Gawker, is also the man indirectly responsible for the birth of TNG. When I was fresh out of college and decided on a whim to move to DC I sent out about a million resumes and got only a handful of responses. One was from Moylan, who was then Features Editor at The Blade. He agreed to have lunch with me and told me that he was leaving The Blade soon for NYC. In the resulting chain of vacancies I was able to squeeze in as Editorial Assistant, eventually learning enough to become Arts Reporter and then (following an unceremonious layoff) eventually form TNG. So thank you, Brian!
One of the more accomplished voices in the queer blogosphere, Brian has served time at the aforementioned Blade as well as NYC’s Next Magazine before settling into his job at Gawker. He has some cool things to say about gay media, snark and nudity and I suggest you check them out.

I’m a little bit disappointed that an interview with Moylan by a DC-based (I know you’re not DC focused) outlet didn’t delve into his roots in DC media and pop culture. I would have love to have heard about his days working at the Washington Blade, or selling tickets at the 9:30 Club. I know that many in DC were a bit sad to see Brian leave for New York. I’ve just always wondered about his bridge between the two cities, and how his time in DC helped shape him into the writer that he is today. That being said, I’m a firm believer that an interview author doesn’t owe everybody everything. Just something I would have love to have seen. Nice little interview, though.
