My favorite local indie rock blog, The Bay Bridged, has compiled 4 excellent “mixtape” downloads as part of their 2010 end-of-the-year round-up. For anyone new to San Francisco or just interested in San Francisco’s live music scene, these downloads make an excellent primer for learning which bands are making some noise in the Bay Area. As many as 50 different bands are featured across all 4 downloads– no modest feat and also just goes to show how dang amazing The Bay Bridged is to have covered the vibrant indie music scene thriving in the Bay Area. Three of these songs– “Heartbreaker” by Girls, “Coma Summer” by Weekend, and “Here Comes Midnight” by Electric Sunset have been in heavy rotation on my iPod at some point this year. These are just the big names. There are many other gems just waiting to be break through. So check this out, download some great (free!) music, and maybe even donate a few bucks (buy some of The Bay Bridged schwag!) to ensure that The Bay Bridged sticks around long enough to give us more mixtapes in 2011 and beyond.
