I can honestly say that this year’s crop of new bands have been exciting. From Cults to Gauntlet Hair, it has been a good year. One of those new bands, husband and wife duo Tennis have been on my radar and you be on yours too. Since releasing their first singles the band signed to Fat Possum and early next year (January 18th) the band are set to release their debut record, Cape Dory. Containing all of their early singles and four unheard tracks, the ten song LP is sure to dazzle and have longevity enough to make it on a few best of 2011 lists. Today’s song of the day is the first cut off Cape Dory, “Take Me Somewhere.” The band previously debuted this track during their Daytrotter session, but now we have the polished LP version. The track starts slow then kicks into high gear. Chock full of “oohs” and references to sailing, it is everything that makes Tennis great. Be sure to check out Cape Dory and peep that awesome Lisa Hartman aping album art.

I’m digging the music – reminds me a bit of She & Him… but alas the Lisa Hartman album cover is awesome! Anyone who makes any kind of reference to Lisa is alright in my book.
