TV: Glee – Making a Blushing Little Girl of Me
I’ve said it before: I’m not a Gleek (Glee + geek = something actual people call themselves, even when they’re not referring to accidental salivary propulsion). I don’t follow the show religiously, or even sporadically. But goddamn it if a few minutes of this week’s episode didn’t turned me into a giggling tween girl.
I am, of course, referring to this:
I could type the letters S, W, O, O, and N in all caps, but I don’t know if even that would express the amount of soul-melting puppy love this song clip inspires in my rapidly beating heart.
The episode tackled anti-gay bullying in school exactly the way MTV’s Undressed would have if the show had had slightly better and more musically inclined writers: Football dude pushes around femme choir dude, femme choir dude finds inspiration from dreamy choir dude, [SPOILER ALERT] football dude kisses femme choir dude. Also, straight dudes got shirtless a couple times, and had awkward pre-sexual encounters. Now all we need is a sassy black… there we go!
Early MTV nostalgia and dreamy a cappella songs aside, I’m still not a Gleek. I was a hold-out this season, waiting for their Rocky Horror episode to decide whether or not to invest in another guilty pleasure. When they nixed the gold briefs, I bailed. (More stalwart fans than I stuck around despite this disappointment, and have given it to me on good authority that I missed nothing)
Nonetheless, Glee got its pound of flesh from me. After wearing out the “replay” button on this YouTube video I bought their stupid song from iTunes and have it on loop at this very moment. Best $1.29 I ever hated spending.

seriously can’t stop listening to this track… love me some Darren Criss…
Thank you so much for bringing up “Undressed.” Probably one of the earliest influences on my teenage life/sexuality. And from Canada…who knew?
