Music: Metric Scores (lesbian-friendly?) Animated Film!
So I’ve been grousing a lot lately about so-called “queer icons” and how they often have no bearing on the lifes or likes of their supposed adoring fan base. I’ll try to avoid similar pigeonholing here, but Emily Haines, lead singer of Canadian dance-punk band Metric, has long been a favorite of the queer ladies. She admits it herself in an interview I once did with her. So I thought some of you would be psyched to know that Metric has used their darkly hopeful song “Collect Call” to score a similarly themed animated video by director Christopher Mills. I love Metric and LOVE animation, so the two of them together is a like a rare peanut butter and jelly sandwich of cool things.
