FRIEND OF DOROTHY #1
“Friend of Dorothy” #1 is a 36-page, full-color, Indie comic that takes beloved, iconic “Wizard of Oz” characters and themes and playfully twists them into new, sometimes deadly, occasionally sexy, but always exciting, fresh and modern characters for the superhero age.
“Friend of Dorothy” stars Scott-John, a young teenage boy struggling with his sexuality who, after attempting to end his life, finds himself brought back from the brink to be given the mantel of Oz’s first “Official Champion on Earth” – the one being in all the universe “imbued with the strength, stamina, and righteous weapons of Oz itself!”
Aided by the scrumptiously shirtless (and male) Gorlindo the Good Witch, a smarty-pants, rude dog named Dodo, and armed with the Tin Man’s ax, ruby thigh-high boots, a flying broom and other soon-to-be revealed Oz-ian inspired weapons, the “Friend of Dorothy” must embark on a fast-paced, action-packed adventure to safe Earth from the workings of the deadly, red-eyed Scrows (evil, soul-sucking scarecrows) and their mysterious, unseen master – a dark and dangerous munchkin.
Can the teenage Scott-John find the courage and self-confidence required to become the hero he’s been asked to be to save the world? Why not click your heels three times, pick up this comic, and find out?
FRIEND of DOROTHY is a three-part comic mini-series created and written by Brian Andersen, featuring amazing art by the Neftali Centeno and stellar colors and letters by Falecia Woods.
