Event Details: AMP Organization Presents Short Bus - Long Beach Art Theatre: Wednesday, September 15

Reel Queer Cinema Present Short Bus

Amp Organization is proudly showing a movie screening of the Short Bus. Directed by John Cameron Mitchell, the same director of Hedwig and the Angry Inch,  Short Bus has garnered quite a queer cult following.  As the New York Times writes “”As utopian visions go, it doesn’t get much better than “Shortbus,” a film in which all you need is love and sex, lots and lots of mutually, sometimes collectively, pleasurable sex. John Cameron Mitchell wrote and directed, though orchestrated might be the better word for a carnivalesque romp in which men and women engage in sex in a multitude of creative combinations.”

With a wicked and sharp sense of humor, on top of a theatrically talented cast, Short Bus certainly delivers an aggressive edge you do not find in many queer themed films. It is definitely a must watch film for anyone who has ever discovered how sex can quickly simplify or complicate things between two people. For those who have seen the film, it is another great chance to reacquaint yourself with the unexpectedly warm and playful yet naughty and charged plot and cast of characters.

Proceeds will go in support of AMP Organization, an organization aimed at promoting LGBTQIA creativity, culture and community, and the Mondo Celluloid, partnering with community organizations to bring quality cinematic programing to Long Beach
