Weekend Preview: DC Weekend Preview: Younger Us Edition

This post was submitted by John "Jolly" Bavoso

As I mentioned last week, lots of things (read: songs) remind me of summer. Some songs that never fails to scream “summers of my youth” are those (admittedly often terrible) pop punk “anthems” that I loved throughout high school. You know the ones. Well, this week’s selection, “Younger Us” by Japandroids, manages to straddle the line between my high school love of these songs and my (I like to think) more grown up sensibilities. Plus, the song itself longs for the days of yore even as it transports me back to mine. Meta! Is it a complex, nuanced song? Not particularly. Is it lots of fun? For me, yes. And you’ll find plenty of fun, however you define it, in DC this weekend, perhaps at one (or more) of the events listed below!

As always, if you know of an event coming up that you think your fellow TNG readers might enjoy, send the details to events@thenewgay.net and/or leave them in the comments below and we’ll get them on the calendar ASAP. Also, you can always find out about all kinds of DC-related events and stories by following the TNGDC Twitter feed.
