Weekend Preview: DC Weekend Preview: Summer Promise Edition

This post was submitted by John "Jolly" Bavoso

Happy weekend, TNG readers! We’ve reached that point in the summer when I just start naming these posts after seasonally-appropriate songs that I enjoy (you try coming up with a unique theme upon which to build these posts every single week and then you can judge me). This week’s inspiration is Van Ghost’s “Summer Promise” – check it out, if you’re so inclined. And, actually, the song is fairly relevant to what’s been going on in my (and, therefore, your?) life recently. As the temperature climbs, I’m finding it harder and harder to keep promises I’ve made to myself and others. For instance, I swore to the people around me that I would not begin every conversation with a complaint about how frickin’ hot it is and have failed miserably in that pursuit. Last weekend, I vowed to myself that I would be diligent in reapplying sunblock while tubing down the Shenandoah River, but my resulting sunburn-of-terror reveals that copious amounts of cheap beer led me to break yet another oath. One summer promise you definitely want to keep, however, is the one you make to check out these hot events going on in DC this weekend (see what I did there?).

As always, if you know of an event coming up that you think your fellow TNG readers might enjoy, send the details to events@thenewgay.net and/or leave them in the comments below and we’ll get them on the calendar ASAP. Also, you can always find out about all kinds of DC-related events and stories by following the TNGDC Twitter feed.
