Have you been missing the Columbus weekend previews?? I’ve been missing you too! After a brief vacation, I’ve returned as energized as ever to help you add some extra off-the-beaten-path “new gay” entertainment and fun in central Ohio. Also note that Dana from Tradewinds contacted me and said he would be playing indie rock/dance, electro, and alternative music on Wednesday nights and he will gladly take requests. Sounds promising with the pretty severe lack of the indie and alt scenes being represented here. This Wednesday will be the first night trying this out, so please go out and support and give him compliments or recommendations on how to improve in the future! Free darts all night and drink specials should be happening. Now on to the weekend’s events featuring the Columbus Music Co-Op Parking Lot Blowout, Smashing Pumpkins, Cheap Trick, Squeeze, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, Cake, Weird Al, Small Black, and Beach Fossils!
Friday
- Smashing Pumpkins, down to Billy Corgan as the only original member, will be rockin’ hits old and new at the Newport Music Hall as they support new 44-song music project, Teargarden By Kaleidyscope with Kill Hannah and Bad City.
- Rockers Cheap Trick are celebrating over 25 years together with reunited English new wavers Squeeze for a co-headlining show at the LC outdoor amphitheatre.
- The Gayla Smith Trio comes back to Club Diversity for a short visit away from the high seas. 9:30PM show.
- Comedy Revolver is going down at Wild Goose Creative at 8:30PM.
Saturday
- The Columbus Music Co-Op Parking Lot Blowout goes down at the Surly Girl Saloon parking lot at 2PM featuring the Gibson Bros., Scrawl, New Bomb Turks, EYE, Sweatheart, Fat Girls by the Snack Table, The Randy’s, and Old Hundred.

- Hot entertainer Tracy Temple performs at Club Diversity. 9:30PM show.
- DJ Fluffy returns to Tradewinds as “Columbus’ best DJ/VJ” playing your favorite music and videos.

For the record, Dana at Tradewinds is a he.
Thank you! I should have known better than to make the assumption, but he e-mailed me after this was posted and noted that. I plan on stopping by after The Hold Steady concert, so let me know if anyone else will be checking it out.
