While DFA Records’ duo YACHT is clearly a band, their spiritual bent goes far beyond the lyrics (and video, below) of songs like “Afterlife” and “Psychic City.” Inspired by a mystical occurrence in Marfa, Texas, the duo hopes to broaden their output to a full-on commune-style gathering point for those who share the YACHT-ian values of thinking for oneself. Though Jonah may be known among our readers for being a founding member of The Blow, or for touring with LCD Soundsystem in the summer of 2007, I have a sneaking suspicion that those will become distant memories if the band accomplishes half the things they want to.

I love Yacht!
But lets get some facts straight. First of all, his name is Jona (as in John-a, the beginning of Jonathan). Second of all, he was not one of the founding members of the Blow. He joined the Blow after khaela maricich had already released 4 albums (5 if you include the one under the name “get the hell out of the way of the volcano). Jona joined the Blow and added his beats to her songs, but was only with her for one ep and one album.
But I do agree that yacht is onto something awesome!
