Sports Chat: What Goes Around Comes Around…

This post was submitted by Art

He's already one of the best. Yep.

The on-going first round NBA playoff series between the Chicago Bulls and the Cleveland Cavaliers is a thing of beauty for Cavs fans. And for LeBron fans (of which I am one). But for Bulls fans, it’s only a painful reminder of what the Bulls did in the 1990s.

Being perfectly honest and straight forward, LeBron James is absolutely dong-whipping the Bulls right now. I realize that phrase is both illustrative and crude, but his numbers are staggering. In addition to his triple double in Game 4 Sunday night (in Chicago infront of a really hostile crowd), LeBron has AVERAGED 35 points per game, 9 rebounds, 8 assists, 2.5 steals, 1.5 blocks and several VICIOUS dunks in these playoffs. His 3-point percentage? .545

Oh, wow.

Yes, LeBron has not yet won a ring. I think that changes this year. I know, he hasn’t been able to get by the Spurs, the Celtics or the Magic but keep in mind he’s only 25. Twenty. Five. As a physical marval (6’9, 275 lbs, able to stop on a dime and give you 9 cents change), no one can physically guard him. Yes, there are taller players, but no one with his athleticism and speed (which is technically part of athleticism).

Bulls fans: this is what Jordan did to players during his time. Humiliation. Absolute humiliation. Go ask fans of, I don’t know….the Blazers, Knicks, Jazz, Pacers, Suns and Sonics. Heck, as fans of the Cavs themselves. Just not now, I doubt many of them are still crying about Jordan’s shot over Craig Elho (at this moment). Do me a favor: pay special attention to the fist pumping at the end. Ask Patrick Ewing, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone or Clyde Drexler.

A criticism I have heard a bit too much about LeBron is his celebrating (mostly his dancing in front of some benches). What critics say is, “Well, Jordan never did that.” Grossly, gravely, gigantically incorrect. Michael Jordan was one of the greatest showboaters of all time. He wagged his finger at the Cleveland bench, for crying out loud! Jordan would jump up on scorer’s tables and point to crowds, and loved to rub it in.

Chicago, this is what we had. And Cleveland has it now. Whether LeBron stays is dependent on if they win the championship this year. I think they will, and I think he stays. If someone (I’m looking at you, Los Angeles) can beat LeBron (because there’s nothing on the Cavs besides him) then I think he goes (and it won’t be to New York either). Dream of all dreams: Cavs lose, Bulls sign LeBron (not totally crazy, in reality). But, that’s July and August. Right now, in April, Bulls fans must suffer. It’s only fair.
