<description>Thank you for this clarification I received from artist Kaucyila Brooke:

&lt;i&gt;dear calvin

the lexington is not closed
the boy mechanic looks at current AND past locations of lesbian bars

in this configuration at the queer territories show
I have presented

Titles:
The Elbo Room (formerly Amelias), from The Boy Mechanic/San Francisco
The Lexington, from The Boy Mechanic/San Francisco

in other words the significance of the The Elbo Room is that it used to be
Amelias and there is no &#039;formerly&#039; in the title The Lexington Club

The Elbo Room used to be a lesbian bar or dance club called Amelia&#039;s - it
closed around 1993 or 94 and there was no 7 day a week lesbian bar in San
Francisco until The Lexington was opened in 1998. So the other photograph
is of The Lexington which is still a 7 day a week lesbian bar.

That is also why they are facing each other with the One Way signs pointing
to each other - they are historical bookends, so to speak.

Anyway, thanks again for your support and nice review!

all the best
