In case you hadn’t heard, D.C. began accepting applications for marriage licenses from same-gender couples yesterday. This family arrived to apply a little later in the morning, long after the Phelps clan and most of the cameras had left. I’m sad to say that I didn’t get their names (if any of you DC locals know, please email me), but as they were walking up to me and a few other media-types, their beautiful little girl, completely un-prompted, yelled out, “MY MOMMIES ARE GONNA GET MARRIED!!”
That will probably live on as my favorite single moment of a wonderful day. I hope it made you smile, too.
I don’t usually feel too great about posting my own photos here, but we had a big day in DC yesterday and I really wanted to share the moment behind this photo.
