I always think it strange that Brooklyn has produced so much garage rock, when hardly any Brooklyner has access to a garage. Nonetheless, the Borough of Kings has produced a thriving scene, and among my favorite bands to come out of Brooklyn is the So So Glos. On their home turf, you can often catch them at The Market Hotel, which they founded. But now they are touring through California now, and have a number of shows in Socal before heading off to Austin for SXSW. I hope some of you catch them, as they put on great shows and deserve a lot more recognition than they currently receive.

Wednesday, March 10: Club Moscow at Boardner’s (1652 N. Cherokee, Hollywood). They will be playing with Ballerina Black, Annie Automatic, and Queen Kwong. Show is $10 or free with flyer from the Club Moscow myspace page before 10:30.

Sunday, March 14: The Ace Hotel in Palm Springs (701 E. Palm Canyon Drive). You know, I didn’t even realize Ace Hotel was a music venue!

Monday, March 15: Pehrspace in Historic Filipinotown (325 Glendale Blvd). With a trio of local bands: Protect Me, the Lovely Bad Things, and Batwings Catwings.
