Music: SXSW Day One: I’m Sorry Edition

This post was submitted by Rohan

Hello from Austin! This is a quick update because I really didn’t do much yesterday. Sad, I know, but yesterday was all about seeing people and getting the lay of the land.

So I started off my day on a flight. Then I headed to my hotel, then I picked up my wristband – which was an ordeal, but I’ll save it.

First up was the Austinist party, which was pretty awesome. I saw Toro y Moi and the Besnard Lakes. I also drank way too much, but there was free pizza. Toro y Moi was great aside from some masturbation at the end. The Besnard Lakes really did roar, but it was the day not the night (if only i could put the slanty face emoticon here)

I then followed a friend to the Fader fort to catch the surprise guest, Nas and Damian Marley. I don’t know why in my drunken state I guessed the surprise but it was underwhelming to say the least. I like hip-hop, but couldn’t they get a fresh out of jail T.I.?

I then went to see Chew Lips who win band of the night. Their set was brief but they kicked through all their singles including former song for the day, “Seven.” Tigs looked and sounded amazing, and I hope to see them again while I’m here.

I then went to see Javelin, but got sidetracked by drinking, so my night pretty much ended. I am sad I didn’t party with Andrew WK, who followed Javelin, but today is going to be a better day. Believe it!

(if this read like a 5th grade personal essay, I’m sorry. These will get better but keep checking out the Twitter for the most up-to-date coverage. P.S. It is early as fuck here.)
