Gay artist and Dupont resident Gordon Binder is showing oil paintings and a drawing featuring the boys of Washington – 17th Street and other popular venues, including a couple of neighborhood coffee houses and a bar he frequents – at Gallery plan b and you’re invited to the opening reception this Saturday.
The show itself runs March 10 to April 11, 2010.
About the Artist
A Dupont Circle resident for more than 35 years, Binder studied with Washington artist William Christenberry in the open program at the Corcoran College of Art and Design. In 1996, he received the Corcoran’s Linda Rosenbaum Scholarship for “talent and artistic excellence.”
Binder shows locally in Washington, and his work can be found in collections here and in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Aspen, Boston and elsewhere in New England.
By day, Binder works in the environmental field. He has degrees in architecture from the University of Michigan. With partner Michael Rawson he launched Binder&Rawson Artworks, a cottage business customizing greeting cards and invitations with their original artwork.
