Song of the Day: Frog Eyes, “Lear in Love”

Frog Eyes have been making music for a while now, but have never really gotten their due credit. Best known for their connections to other bands, Wolf Parade, and Swan Lake, Carey Mercer’s group of pranksters make schizophrenic murder ballads that have lots in common with the blacker parts of Sunset Rubdown. On April 27th, five albums in, Frog Eyes are set to release Paul’s Tomb: A Triumph, and if it is anything like today’s song of the day, “Lear in Love,” the band is going to blow up. “Lear in Love” is more upbeat and “straight-forward” than most of the Frog Eyes catalog.
