Driveway To Driveway, Drunk: Vinyl Fantasy 7
I’ve made my love for all things hip-hop well known, but something you might not know about me is my love for RPGs (role-playing games). When I say that, I mean: single player turn-based RPGs (sorry WoWers). One of my all time favorite RPGs is Final Fantasy VII. I’ve played it so many times I wonder how the discs stay intact.
One of my favorite aspects of the game is the soundtrack. Nobuo Uematsu’s soundtracks are wide and expansive, and though the songs are played over and over throughout the game, they are rarely repetitive. Though it is mostly background music, some of the songs are strong enough to take the main stage.
I am very excited to see two of my loves coming together. Team Teamwork have taken FFVII tracks and mixed them with rap songs to create Vinyl Fantasy 7- and it is fucking fantastic!
Those familiar with the game should immediately recognize their picks. Tracks like “Barrett’s Theme” gain new life with tracks like MF Doom’s “Ante Up” on top. I know this kind of thing has been done before, but not to this level of expertise.

For Nintendo fans Team Teamwork also made a mix entitled The Ocarina of Rhyme mixing tracks from Zelda: Ocarina of Time with rap:
