Hey you! So there aren’t a ton of novel gay things to do this weekend, but who needs a dark club when it’s frickin’ gorgeous outside? Go paddle a boat on greenlake, take a ferry with your fairy, lay out a towel in Volunteer Park and wait until someone hits on you. I dunno! Or stare at cocks online all day, whatever, do what ya gotta do (I’m not your mom). OK, OK, so you DO feel like going out? Here are a few suggestions…
Friday is the day all the twenty one year old queens at UW dress up in fishnets and wigs, strap on their high heels and descend to Kane hall to belt their favorite diva songs in front of their dorm friends. So far the UW Drag Show 2010 has amassed over seven hundred Facebook attendees. If you’re not sick of gaggles of gays lipsyncing to our lady of the ga, this is the event for you. UW anthropology students will be on hand to write an ethnography on your outfit.
Sunday is closing night for the Rep’s “Speech and Debate,” which was described by the New York Times as “brilliant.” If you were a high school drama geek but find yourself annoyed by Glee‘s anti-realism, this show is for you. “12 Minutes Max” at On the Boards premieres Sunday, too.
