My most anticipated release of the year is The Radio Dept.’s Clinging to a Scheme. Clinging to a Scheme is very much like a Lil Wayne record: it gets delayed every few months pushing it in the “it’s never coming out” category. After two singles and almost four years of waiting, the band is finally set to release this record on April 21st, and judging by today’s very special song of the day, it’s gonna rule! “Heaven’s On Fire” is a fantastic Radio Dept. ditty. Starting with a sample, much like other Swedes jj, the track expands around Martin Larsson’s chilling vocals ending in an unexpected, but well welcomed horn solo.

I have to say, the Radio Dept. have been dear to my heart for a long time.I love all their songs, and I even traveled to NYC to see them last year at their first stateside shows ever.  When I tell you this record is going to be huge, I mean it. So if you’ve never heard this band check them out now. Because of my undying love for all thing Radio Dept., I am going to post a bonus song. Here is their “first single” (“Freddie and the Trojan Horse” from 2007 will not appear on the album) from Clinging to a Scheme “David”. Peep the maybe homoerotic cover for the single too:

And if you’ve never heard of the Radio Dept.’s record label Labrador, check them out, because they are one of the finest purveyors of pop music in the word.
