Song of the Day: Xiu Xiu, “Dear God, I Hate Myself”

Xiu Xiu are one weird band. They’ve been on my radar for years, but other than Fabulous Muscles, the band never really did it for me. After hearing today’s song of the day though, “Dear God, I Hate Myself” (the title track to their new album out February 23 on Kill Rock Stars), I might have had a change of heart. The track pulses with darkwave synths, clanging acoustic guitars, and Jamie Stewart’s trademark voice. The track manages to be both poppy as hell, while being dark and experimental. Xiu Xiu fans will love this song, while it may convert some of the non-believers.
