TNG’s new Seattle editor, Steven, submitted this post.
I have an agenda for you this weekend. It’s very gay.
- First up: art. “Everything All the Time Right Now” is a show at the Lawrimore Project that makes fun of the debilitating effects of Ebay, the morbidity of the internet and how we pay for paintings. One of the installations features a vending-machine-esque cash receptor- it takes your change and gives you nothing in return (like art?). Another installation features two-plaques indicating the artist (and his wife’s) day of death as tabulated by the interwebs. Funny and weird!
- Sometimes when I’m working out and listening to Mika or Annie I suddenly wish I was in a flamboyant musical and wearing a leotard. Homorobics at the 20/20 Cycle in the Central District promises to create a similar scene this Wednesday night – and in a bike shop, no less. Bring your rainbow sweatband and gold-lame short-shorts and get ready to sweat harder than Richard Simmons at his Bar Mitzvah.
- Other ways to sweat: uber-scenesters and pretentious fucks “Mad Rad” are playing a free show this Thursday, after being “un-banned” from Neumos. Expect pure electro-debauchery.
- The Living Room Bar is currently my favorite place to grab a drink on Capitol Hill. The space is cozy without feeling cloistered, dim but never too dark. It’s the kind of place where mind-reading bartenders muddle up novel and delectable concoctions based on whatever adjectives tumble out of your mouth. It’s also crusier than a Berlin bathroom: last time saw a gaggle of cute gay foreigners falling all over each other.
- 12 Minutes Max, a dance collaboration at On the Boards, premieres Sunday night.
