Event Details: Fireside Chats Cocktail Hour - The Edison: Friday, January 29, Friday, February 12Friday, February 12, Tuesday, January 26Tuesday, January 26

The Edison (108 W 2nd St, #101) is one of LA’s most appealing bars. Set in a converted powerplant in downtown LA, this lounge is one of the swankiest bars around, full of 1930s atmosphere. At times, the bar can attract a crowd of trendsters who adore places with velvet ropes and dress codes. But on Fridays, the rest of us can enjoy a bar with incredible old-fashioned atmosphere.

On Fridays from 5-7:30, the bar offers Fireside Chats, where they will replay the hits of the 1930s and hear our old president, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, address a nation facing the Great Depression and looming war. Better yet, the cocktails are offered at “vintage” prices. The bar opens the “soup kitchen” to feed the huddled masses complimentary grilled cheese sandwiches and Tomato Soup. 25% of net proceeds are donated to LA food banks and local charities.

If we’re facing the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression, we might as well enjoy it in style, right?
