Winston Calling
Black Francis (of Pixies fame, if you have to ask) is hosting a 2-day benefit show called Winston Calling. The shows will raise money for Winston Bertrand, an infant born with life-threatening lymphatic and venous malformations.
The rock show is on Tuesday, December 8, and features Black Francis, Flea, Love & Rockets, Tenacious D, Kim Shattuck (of The Muffs), She Wants Revenge, Weird Al, Michael Penn, The 88, and Violet Clark.
Seriously. Wierd Al will be on stage, singing “I Bleed” from Doolittle, with Black Francis and Flea playing backup.
The comedy show is on Wednesday, December 9, and features Tim and Eric (providing music), Bob Odenkirk, Brian Posehn, and Dave Lovering (of The Pixies). Black Francis hosts this night too.
Each night is $20, or you can get tix to both for $35. Not a bad price for the indie-star-studded lineup. And you’re helping a kid in need!
Tuesday is at The Echoplex (1154 Glendale Boulevard) and Wednesday is at The Echo (1822 West Sunset Boulevard).
