While London’s “The Big Pink” show off a brand of sonic, hypnotic shoegaze on their debut album “A Brief History of Love,” they were nice enough to play a stripped down version of their single “Velvet” in the ally behind DC’s Black Cat. It shows a softer side of the band, as well as the fact that their songwriting holds up even without all the atmosphere. It’s pretty cool.

(And yeah, I’m aware that the singer is named Robbie, not Elvis. I got confused briefly but was soon set straight.)
