About the Artist

A Dupont Circle resident for more than 35 years, Binder studied with Washington artist William Christenberry in the open program at the Corcoran College of Art and Design.  In 1996, he received the Corcoran’s Linda Rosenbaum Scholarship for “talent and artistic excellence.”  In 2003, Washington Blade editors chose Binder as their pick for artist in the “Best of Gay DC.”

By day, Binder works in the environmental field.  He has degrees in architecture from the University of Michigan.  With partner Michael Rawson he launched Binder&Rawson Artworks, a cottage business customizing greeting cards and invitations with their original artwork.
