Washington DC: Capturing Fire Planning Meeting @ 1753 Euclid St, NW
Event Details: Capturing Fire Planning Meeting @ 1753 Euclid St, NW - :
Capturing Fire: The Queer Spoken Word Summit and Slam will take place on March 7-9, 2010 and the event’s creators need you help in bringing it together.
This slam will be the first of its kind, and open to all local and national GLBTQ performance artists. The summit is open to all GLBTQ artists and their allies. The mission of this Capturing Fire Summit and Slam is to increase the visibility and exposure of GLBTQ performance artists. Capturing Fire aims to bring more credibility and awareness to the specific and diverse experiences of queer artists. In a time where
Prop 8 exists, what better time and place then to hold this summit in the nation’s capital, as an act of celebration, resistance, and inspiration for change. The summit will culminate in a poetry slam, after two days of performance and writing workshops, panels and networking events.
Sounds great, right? Well, they need you to make it happen. The event’s organizers are looking for folks to help out with publicity, fundraising, volunteering, finding sponsors and event planning, plus those with ideas and creativity, as well as poets, performers, street teamsters, rockstars, etc.
If you’re interested, please attend their first interest meeting on Tuesday night.
