The New York State Senate is currently debating gay marriage. A vote is expected later today. Gay marriage has passed the State Assembly and Governor Patterson will sign a marriage bill. In order for the bill to pass the Senate, 32 yes votes are needed.

You can watch live at nysenate.gov.

Update 3:10P:
The Senate vote for marriage equality has failed. The final vote was 24 for, 38 against.

Update 3:35P:
The full vote count can be found at the New York Daily News. Not a single Republican voted for gay marriage, and 8 Democrats voted against. Among the Democrats voting no was Hiram Monserrate, who has been a vocal supporter of marriage equality.
