National Online Alternative Queer Publication Seeks Interns:

help-wanted

Do you want experience in the constantly evolving world of online media? Do you have technical, writing or marketing skills that can be put to good use? Are you a queer person that doesn’t feel connected to the existing gay mainstream? The New Gay (www.thenewgay.net) is a publication for alternative queer culture, events, and ideas based here in Washington DC, and we need your help. As we continue to grow and expand, it is becoming more and more important for us to have a stronger online and real-world presence. And that is where you come in.

Position 1: Technical Intern

A TNG Technical Intern will help develop and launch a new design for the website, updating the layout and increasing the site’s ability to feature non-event local content. Applications should have graphic design and web programming skills. The ideal skill set would include: Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL and WordPress. Anyone with any subset of these skills will be considered.

Position 2: Marketing Intern

We also need an intern who can help us with the simple tasks of publicizing our events and articles. This will include flyering throughout Washington DC, letting the local press know about our events and alerting the national press to articles of ours that deserve wider attention.

While these positions are at this time uncompensated, The New Gay provides valuable experience in the ever-growing field of web publishing among queer peers who share your discrepancies with mainstream gay culture.

Please email info@thenewgay.net with your resume and a short paragraph describing why you are qualified and what you seek to gain through becoming a member of The New Gay team.
