jesuslizardThe Jesus Lizard are a band from Chicago. From 1989–1999 the Jesus Lizard ripped up every venue they could while releasing some of the harshest but still most awesome music around. This year marks their twentieth anniversary, and to celebrate the band has reformed for a set of special gigs.

Also their old label Touch and Go recently released remastered deluxe versions of their first five records. After this tour, the band will probably vanish again, as there seems to be no plan to continue. So if you are in DC tonight or you live on any of the other stops remaining on the tour—get off your ass and prepare to have it kicked. Cause, oh yeah… their live show is legendary.

Bassist David Wm Simms was nice enough to answer a couple quick questions via e-mail regarding the band.

TNG Rohan: Your blog has a couple pictures of your dinners from the tour, what/where has been the best meal?

David Wm Sims: Not the steak and shrimp in Montreal.

TNG: You guys are playing bigger and presumably cleaner venues this time around. Which do you prefer, the dirty and nasty or the clean and posh?

DWS: Good question. Gonna have to send that one to the lab.

TNG: You guys have pretty devoted fans. Have you guys gotten any strange gifts or pieces of fan appreciation?

DWS: No.

TNG: Are the crowds just as wild and rowdy as they were before? Any injuries?

DWS: The crowds are generally wilder than before. Injuries? You bet!!

If you’ve never heard the band I’ve created a fun playlist of their shit to get you pumped.
