TNG TV: The Hidden Cameras sing “Ban Marriage” Just For Us!
Canadian pop collective The Hidden Cameras, led by the fetching Joel Gibb and a rotating stable of (mostly queer) musicians, put on a hell of a live show. In addition to copious costume changes, synchronized dance moves and banter with the crowd, Gibbs unabashedly sexual lyrics come through loud and clear.
Though its’ second line mentions “fingering foreign dirty holes in the dark,” it is the chorus of his 2004 anthem “Ban Marriage” that always got my attention the most. Considering the hit that our chances of marriage just took in Maine, we here at The New Gay thought it would be awesome to have the Hidden Cameras back up a conviction that maybe no one should get married. So they gave us a couple minutes of their time at the Rock N Roll Hotel this past Saturday and put together this awesome version of the song for us. Thanks, guys!
The blonde gentlemen on the floor is former HC member Gentlemen Reg who now tours as his own act. Stay tuned for some original video from him as well.
