San Francisco: San Francisco Weekend Preview: The Gobble Lite Edition

Event Details: San Francisco Weekend Preview: The Gobble Lite Edition - :

Happy Thanksgiving, y’all. Knowing that most of you will be spending the next few days engorging yourselves on turkey (or tofurkey for the vegetarian set), I present to you the San Francisco Weekend Preview Lite. Tastes great, less filling, right? Okay, the honest truth is that I didn’t get a chance to compile a super-duper events list for this weekend, but there are a few things you should know about as you emerge from your tryptophan-induced haze.

First up, you still have time to catch the Magnetic Fields ticket presale which started last week. Given how quickly shows can sell out around here, advance tickets are highly recommended. Gay indie rock mensch, Stephen Merritt, brings his troupe to the Bay Area on February 27 at the Fox Theater (Oakland) and March 1 at the Herbst Theater. Get your tickets online at the Another Planet website.

As for the events…

Peaches @ Regency Ballroom

Peaches @ Regency Ballroom

Friday

  • Peaches, Amanda Blank, Wallpaper @ The Regency Ballroom. It’s the teaches of Peaches live… Your favorite electroclash dyke troublemaker sets it off for you this Thanksgiving weekend. Details: Show starts at 9 PM. Tickets range from $25-$27 at the Regency Ballroom on 1290 Sutter Street and Van Ness.

Saturday

  • Blowoff @ Slim’s. Bob Mould and Rich Morel bring their wildly popular dance party, Blowoff, back to San Francisco just in time for all the bears to burn off those Thanksgiving calories (who we kidding..?). Should be a lot of fun, actually, if you can deal with the sight of a mature, bearded Mould spinning top 40 dance tunes for circuit boys. Take that, Hüsker Dü! Details: Doors open at 10 PM, $15 cover at Slim’s on 333 11th Street.

First time here? See what we're all about... Get involved... Send us a tip!...
