Canadian electropop band Dragonette, helmed by former The New Deal member Dan Kurtz and his wife Martina Sorbora, are best known for “I Get Around,” last year’s paean to sluttery, ” Even besides that, though, their eternal danceability and super-cute members (Dan’s flannel! Martina’s haircut!) have made them popular with some of the homos. They recently stopped by The District to play songs from their new album “Fixin’ To Thrill.”

While they were here they opened up about vomiting in taxis, avoiding the sophomore slump (though I edited out a section about Grandaddy’s “Sophtware Slump) and most importantly Martina’s love of golden age musicals. I asked her if  ”I Get Around” was inspired by Oklama’s “I Cain’t Say No” and she responded with a little impromptu cover of it. That adorableness starts at 9:08, for the record, but you should check out the whole thing. And be sure to think of them next time you get around.
