Washington DC: 11/20 – Kate Clinton Meet & Greet @ Lambda Rising Bookstore
Event Details: 11/20 - Kate Clinton Meet & Greet @ Lambda Rising Bookstore - :
Comedian Kate Clinton, the author of I Told You So, is dropping by Lambda Rising this Friday afternoon before her show at The Birchmere for a meet and greet.
About I Told You So
I Told You So is a hilarious, bittersweet, politically acute survival guide. In collected columns and routines Clinton gleefully details personal coping techniques tested over a lifetime. They’re perfectly suited for political and cultural upheaval: wildcatting for democracy, curbing your cynicism, and changing the climate. Read them and you’ll never be voted off the island.
I Told You So spans refreshingly disparate topics: sexual hypocrisy and gay marriage; 9/11 and its aftermath; girls gone wild and boys gone to war; Hillary Clinton and U.S. politics; baptism and waterboarding; as well as intelligent design and body shows; P-town and families of choice; and even bee colony and other collapses. As a humorist for over twenty-five years, Clinton believes that making light-light enough to see and light enough to move-is what sustains us. What unites the essays is a Möbius strip of humor intended not to dissipate outrage but rather to motivate action.
About Kate
Kate Clinton is a faith-based, tax-paying, America-loving political humorist and family entertainer. With a career spanning over 28 years, Kate Clinton has worked through economic booms and busts, Disneyfication and Walmartization, gay movements and gay markets, lesbian chic and queer eyes, and EIGHT presidential inaugurals. She still believes that humor gets us through peacetime, wartime, scoundrel time and economic down times.
“Kate Clinton has held the mirror that reflects every single issue that has faced us for the last 25 years. We’ve laughed with her, we’ve cried with her, and we’ve been changed by her,” said Kate Kendell, Executive Director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights.
