"It's elementary my dear Watson..."
This weekend will be enjoyed outside, I imagine, as we get our first truly beautiful weather of the year, but after the sun goes down we have some fun and entertaining “inside” activities this weekend. First, dust off your magnifying glass and unpack your opera cloak. We have a murder mystery to solve!
Friday
- Famous mystery writer Agatha Cristie takes the reins of a Broadway play, but a murder gets in the way. See this enjoyable whodunit written by Houston playwrights Eddie Cope and George Rapier at the UpStage Theatre in the Heights. Catch Agatha Christie Takes Manhattan now through October 24. Lambert Hall – 1703 Heights – $12-$15 – Call 713-838-7191 for tickets and information.
Saturday
- Be sure to see the world premiere of Heaven, an extraordinary collaboration between Minneapolis-based choreographer Morgan Thorson, the band, LOW (Alan Sparhawk and Mimi Parker), lighting designer Lenore Doxsee and visual and costume designer Emmet Ramstad. Thorson researched all manners of ecstatic transformation in religious forms, rituals and methodologies. Heaven works to create sublime revelations for all—audience members, dancers, believers, non-believers, dance enthusiasts and music lovers. DiverseWorks – 1117 E. Freeway – Show at 8pm – 713-223-8346.
Sunday
- Head over to SouthBeach for Houston’s Got Talent an amateur talent show that promises to be fabulous – or at least very entertaining. Hosted by the legendary Kofi. You can show off your best talent. Whether it is juggling or drag. Cash prizes for the best performers. SouthBeach – 810 Pacific – 11pm.
