There is something inherently amusing and enjoyable about pets in costumes. I had no idea how big the pet costume industry was until I noticed an entire section of pet costumes at Target. I would bet it’s at least a $2 million dollar per year industry. Thousands more if you count all of the pet therapy you’re going to have to get for your pooch after traumatizing him. By the way, be careful if you do a Google image search for “halloweenie” – One of the images that popped up (no pun intended) was of a costume you are almost certain to see at one of this weekend’s Halloween Night events listed below! Halloween Night Saturday
- This year Charles Armstrong has gone all out, reserving an entire street block for this year’s Halloween Block Party on the 800 block of Pacific. Taking place in front of JR’s Bar & Grill, The Mining Company, and South Beach, there will be a street party, drag race (Careful in those heels, girls!), costume contest, and of course, dance party afterward. The drag race is emceed by legendary adult video director Chi Chi LaRue. Events start at 9pm. South Beach – 800 Pacific – $15 advance/$20 door.
- If you would rather not pay to party, but would still like to show off your costume for a chance to win cash prizes, check out Guava Lamp at 11pm for their annual costume contest hosted by Toddicus. Guava Lamp – 570 Waugh – No Cover.
- If you’re looking for what is arguably the most terrifying place in Houston (besides Ripcord after 2am), then perhaps you should visit the legendary ScreamWorld. Opening at 7pm on Saturday night, go get the bejeezus scared out of you before you get your drink on. ScreamWorld – N Beltway 8 – 1.5 miles West of I-45 – $25.
