There will be some beautiful weather this weekend in Houston, so why not get out and enjoy the festival-perfect climate? There is a bunch to do this weekend in the Bayou City. Here’s a listing of just a few fun events:
Friday
- Come party at Rich’s and see special guest DJ Eddie Halliwell, the precocious talent, championed by the dance floor to become one of the biggest breakthrough DJ’s on the planet. Rich’s Houston – 2401 San Jacinto – 18+
- Join Impact Houston as they host the monthly Transgender Foundation of America BBQ along with Houston Stonewall Young Democrats. Meet, mingle, and have fun. Enjoy tasty BBQ, all the traditional side dishes, and wonderful dessert provided by Karen Derr! Vegetarian options will be available. The dinner will be provided, you may bring your own beer or wine (no hard liquor). TFA – 713 Fargo – 7pm-11pm – Call 713-553-8900.
Saturday
- Go Greek at the 43rd Annual Houston Greek Festival. Enjoy delicious Greek food, dance performances, and Greek folk music. The weather will be perfect and the food will be delicious. Festival runs through Oct 4. – 3511 Yoakum.
Sunday
- Join Weekends at BARC where volunteers spend the morning walking, bathing, and playing with shelter dogs and cats at the Houston Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care. This is always a very fun and rewarding event. Come out and meet fellow animal lovers while doing something good for these often neglected pets. 2700 Evella – 9am til 2pm or when the last dog is walked.
- If the weather holds up, why not enjoy a nice bike ride? Check out the 4th Annual Heights Bicycle Rally and Scavenger Hunt. See website for location and registration fees.
- For the geek in you – (perhaps even the Greek geek) – check out To The Moon and Beyond! at MFAH this Sunday. This is a free event sponsored by Target. To the Moon and Beyond! will take families on a journey to space, via the exhibition: The Moon: “Houston, Tranquility Base Here. The Eagle Has Landed.” Learn how to beautifully blend oil pastels to create a romantic vision of a moonlit landscape or of life on the moon, inspired by the paintings in the exhibition. Let Max Ernst´s Moonmad sculpture inspire you to create your own work of art, using a variety of moon-related shapes! Plus much much more. Museum of Fine Arts, Houston – 1001 Bissonnet.
