Weekend Preview: Tampa Weekend Preview: Skipper’s Smokehouse Edition
Event Details: Tampa Weekend Preview: Skipper's Smokehouse Edition - :
This week is kind of slow for indie shows, cutting edge displays of art and fashion, or even a good old T Dance. Fortunately, Skipper’s Smokehouse is picking up the slack this weekend with three days of emerging bands, experimental performance art, and pleasing harmonies. If you’re not a Skipper’s fan, you can still find entertainment to keep you busy out at the clubs in Ybor or down at Sacred Grounds, where there’s always something out of the ordinary going on.
Friday
Jam out to Sara Haze’s distinctive Southern California style at The Orpheum. The Orpheum, 1902 N. Avenida Republica De Cuba, Ybor, 7 p.m., $10.
Catch Francesca, Jonny Jenaro, and The Come Get Me Out of Heres tonight at Sacred Grounds after a free vegan potluck. The performers are some of the freshest emerging artists in Tampa. Sacred Grounds, 4819 East Busch Boulevard, 7 p.m., One drink minimum, performers are working for tips.
Enjoy the rockabilly splendor of the Dive Bar Stalkers and the American rhythyms of the Butch Ryan Band tonight at Skipper’s Smokehouse. Skipper’s Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road, 8 p.m., $10.
Saturday
Discover the local favorite Halcyon and their exquisite vocal harmonies as well as My Little Trotsky at Skipper’s Smokehouse. Skipper’s Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road, 8 p.m., $12.
Sunday
Skipper’s Smokehouse will be the home of experimental music and spoken word performances tonight. Join Rebekah Pulley, Ronny Elliot, and more for the Irritable Tribe of Poets. Skipper’s Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road, 5 p.m., $10.
