Its fun to pretend that the entire city of Athens, GA, looks like the interior of Willy Wonka’s factory. (Gene Wilder version, of course.) The city responsible for such psychedelic musical acts as Of Montreal and Olivia Tremor Control must have LSD water and hologram weather formations, as it has birthed another band – Laminated Cats – whose sound lies somewhere between “Yellow Submarine” and “Jacob’s Ladder.”
Their debut album Umbrella Weather just came out this past Tuesday. The below track, “Aquamarine,” makes a compelling case that drugs are better listened to than ingested.
