Your Morning Upper: I’m Hearing Voices

This post was submitted by John "Jolly" Bavoso

Mornings suck. So every morning TNG brings you a fun video to ease the pain.

Last year, there was a brief Internet meme surrounding videos on YouTube of aspiring actors and actresses creating reels of themselves slipping in and out of various accents to impress casting folks. While it was fun to see the range some of these wanna-bes had, sometimes it’s best to just watch a true master at work. With the release of her new film, Julie & Julia, last week, a lot of attention has been paid to Meryl Streep‘s ability to so perfectly capture Julia Child’s one-of-a-kind voice. Not that this is any surprise, since Streep is known for her adeptness with accents. The fine folks over at Slate took it upon themselves to collect their favorite Meryl performances and edit them together in a video called “The Many Voices of Meryl Streep.” But, really, I’d welcome any opportunity to be further reminded that it really is Meryl’s world and we’re just living in it.
