Event Details: Boston Weekend Preview: One Night Band - :

Body Heat.

Body Heat.

This weekend, there are some of the usual things, but there’s also a couple of strange events that are worth checking out.  Britney’s going to be in town, but if you can manage to tear yourself away from that and hide in Cambridge, get yourself to the Middle East for some local flavor.

 Friday

  • It’s that time of month again, Dyke Night‘s Fourth Fridays event at the Milky Way, this time featuring DJ Maryalice.  Milky Way at The Brewery, 284 Amory Street, Jamaica Plain near the Stonybrook T stop, $6, 21+, 9 am-1am.
  • Body Heat is a collection of self-described Femme artists who promise to challenge your preconceptions about the Femme label and also promise, in no uncertain terms, to turn you on. Makes sense, since the show is called the  Femme Porn Tour. The tour’s line up features Body Heat founder and spoken-word performer kathleen delaney (Atlanta, GA), Sister Spit vet, former slam champion, filmmaker, and writer Meliza Banales (San Francisco, CA), Nationally renowned singer / performer Nicky Click (Durham, NH), The Femme Show founder and performer Gigi Frost (Boston, MA), teacher, writer, disability-advocate and activist Leslie Freeman (Burlington, VT) and Queer Drag King performer Al Schlong (Atlanta, GA). Lily Pad, 1353 Cambridge Street, Inman Square, Cambridge, MA, 7pm, $10.

Saturday

  • Get some exposure to the local music scene in a seriously efficient manner at One Night Band, an event organized by Boston Band Crush.  40 local musicians are randomly assigned to bands of five, and given one day to come up with a four-song set.  It probably won’t all be good, but this sounds fuuuuun. The Middle East, 472 Mass Ave., Cambridge, MA, 18+, $10 adv/$12 door.

First time here? See what we're all about... Get involved... Send us a tip!...
