The weather in Tampa has been sweltering for months now, and the frequent thunderstorms we’ve been experience have almost been a relief (even with the flooding, water damage, and leaky roofs). With summer more than halfway over, I say it’s time to revel in the sticky, hot, humid weather while we have it. Because for three or four whole months, it just might get under 70 degrees.

From sizzling music to parties where you can take it all off, have a little fun this weekend. You deserve it if you’ve survived these summer months with your sanity intact.

Friday

Prepare for a clothing optional birthday bash for Xzanthia/ indie artist festival at The Riverboat Nudist Club (not safe for work). There will be DJs, live music, performance artists, arts and crafts, fire breathers, and much more. It will be a little bit Burning Man, a little bit goth party. The Riverboat Club, 6901 Caliente Boulevard, Land O’ Lakes. The party starts at 5 p.m. on Friday and lasts all weekend. $25 per day or $60 for the weekend.

Head to the Dali Museum for S’Real Happy Hour, an event that mixes live music with good food, an open bar, silent films, and more. You can also go on an evening tour of the museum for half the price of regular admission. This week is the sizzling jazz of the Hot Sun Quartet. Salvador Dali Museum, 1000 3rd Street South, St. Petersburg, 5 p.m., $8.50 (or $17 for admission before 5 p.m.).

Saturday

Take a chance on a new concept with the BBQ Across America Tour. The talent will hang at a real BBQ. Ace Enders, A Million Different People, Person L, and The Dangerous Summer will be on hand, then afterwards there will be an afterparty at Denny’s where fans can spend more time with the musicians. The Orpheum, 1902 N. Avenida Republica De Cuba, Ybor. 7 p.m., $12.

Halcyon, one of Tampa’s veteran local bands, will be performing at Skipper’s Smokehouse. The trio’s harmonic style has become a local favorite. Skipper’s Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road, 8 p.m., $12.

Sunday

I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Sum 41. They were the first pop punk band I listened to and bridged my ska and punk periods. Fat Lip became my anthem my first year of college. And, this Sunday they will be performing at Jannus Landing. Jannus Landing, 205 Second Street, St. Petersburg. 7 p.m. $23.
