Ask A Straight Guy: Stellastarr*’s Arthur Kremer

This post was submitted by Zack Rosen

stellaHigh energy NYC rockers Stellastarr* are currently on tour behind their new album “Civilized” and their drummer Arthur Kremer was nice enough to answer some of our questions about being straight. I can say with no hesitation that his answer to number 5 might be my favorite yet. Way to go, Arthur!

DC residents can check the guys out tonight at The Rock and Roll Hotel. Everyone else should check out their tour schedule.

The New Gay: When did you first realize you were straight?

Arthur Kremer: Right before I opened this email

TNG: What is your least favorite stereotype about straight people?

AK: That they can’t dance or dress or have taste…wait a second…I just had a revelation.

TNG: What obligations, if any, do you feel that you have to the gay community?

AK: To make white shoes look good

TNG: What are the biggest challenges faced by a straight guy in today’s culture?

AK: Not to be confused for a gay guy…not that there’s anything wrong with it.

TNG: If you had to “go gay” for one member of the same sex, who would it be?

AK: Do lady boys count…ah forget it..I’d say the Dalai Lama…I figured he may slip me “The Answer” while slipping me something else

TNG: Given the seemingly endless number of “indie” bands in existence today, how do you think you set yourself apart from the crowd?

AK: I try and wear black electrical tape in a shape of an asterisk on my nipple.

TNG: Finally, why should Washington, DC come out and see you play tonight?

AK: Because I put a black electrical tape in a shape of an asterisk on my nipple damn it…I pain for my art.TNG
